My old bloodhound crawled in there one day and could not get out. I had to remove the strip at the top to get her to come out.

my explorer skirt was the grey vinyl, lasted about 5 seasons in the bay of fundy nb. barnacles wore the vinyl off the fabric so I glued a doubler on the bottom the whole way around. sun damage killed the skirt in eventually.
I had to look at my photos for that day, it sure looked like another hovercraft the only other one in the area belonged to Reg Richardson but he passed away a few years ago. turns out it is a collection of things a large weathered log with its roots sticking up, a half barrel BBQ, and a wood pallet.

If you want a craft that perfoms on or better than the design specs build it to the plans ,if you want to experiment with different materials go for it . I personally like flying my craft as opposed to reengineering it.
