Putting the lift fans on the front

Post by AusHover »

Just wondering what the consensus is on putting the fans forward facing and having the two shafts go through the bulkhead rather than having hem aft facing?

Obviously they would have to be shielded and it will no doubt be noisier but could they then be smaller or at least give better performance? Or different ratios so more power is given to the thrust prop?

Thanks

Sounds like you are trying to solve a problem that isn't really. At high forward speeds, where it might make a difference, full lift performance is not needed. Lots of volume is needed when... stuck in the grass, rough seas, etc, neither of which happen at speed.

I concur with Bryan; I need most lift air generally traversing thick swamp grass at low to medium speeds!!
