Hi,
Im about to start building a scout.
On the plans it shows the panels needing higher strength require a Layer of matt and cloth.
My question is what is the advantage of using of matt fiberglass?
I thought matt was a low strength fiberglass and two layers of cloth would be stronger.
I know there is a good reason for I just cant imagine what.
Best Regards Mark

Hi Guys
Have I posted in the wrong area? Is there something I should have read? Any hints?

Hello Mark. The idea is to quickly build thickness and to resist penetrations. Mat also creates a resin rich layer to aid in bonding to the core. Cloth may be stronger in tension, but would actual be heavier. Glass has a specific gravity of 2.5, were as resin is more like 1.05.
We recommend mat be used, not Matt, as Matt contains to much organic matter and won't stay still
