I saw on a promotionnal video, Barry use a very light trailer made almost like a boat trailer. This has the advantage of being very light and easy to build. However I noticed that after the craft is on the trailer, the skirt is hanging very low . There should be some ways to lift the skirt higher from the ground and keep it high. Anyone have experience with this kind of trailer. There are many boat trailers for sale for cheap and it should be very easy to adapt them to carry a Surveyor. Unless I get bad comments on this kind of trailer versus a fly in trailer, this is my preferred choice. Thanks for your comments. Carol.

I read your Bio and you said you have some machinery. Even if a person doesnt, Bryans fly on fly off trailer is easy to build and makes it so easy. to launch and retrieve. You dont really need much equipment to build one. Basically just a hot saw , a welder, and a 4" angle grinder. I quess an electric drill too. Very simple. I bought the plans from Bryan and they are done very well and I think there is a video available as well. ,,,,,Dan out

Yes the skirts tend to flop around when deflated because of the larger skirt design inherent in SEVTECs. I"m not sure if this feature is documented on the updated plansets, but you can make a little loop cut out of spare skirt material and glue it to the skirt near the outboard line. When deflated, you hook bungees to these loops and hook them to one another across the cockpit, or to the guard somewhere. That keeps the skirt 'hiked-up' and out of the trailer wheels and dragging in the back. It's also good practice to run a bungee across the bow curtain, restraining it, too, lest it beat itself to death going down the highway, flapping in the breeze. I think there are typically 3 along the side, and 2 across the back....just going from memory here.

I'll shoot a couple pics of my boat trailer mod for my Vanguard. But, I'll second Dan in that the AM Tilt-Swivel trailer is really the way to go!! I have one that did a great job getting my Fantastic from Seattle to Orlando last summer.

As promised, here are some pics of my boat trailer modified for my Vanguard. The rollers will mount to the rear and will not engage the hull during transport. The suspension is stiff...nothing like the torflex axle that's on the Amphibious Marine trailer. I have to mount a new winch and add a spare tire bracket and tongue jack. New tires are in order, too...the pair that's on right now are 9 years old or so.

At one point I think a roller type trailer was shown, this broke the craft!

Hello Bryan and John. The trailer worked just fine, without all the cranking and turning and tilting, even. I should have given it some promotion. I have had two disasters, though. The builders managed to use an auto hauling trailer for Vanguards, one of them the prototype I had sold after 9 years of heavy activity and total survival aside from one skirt repair and a few minor dings to the plow plane. One of the craft did a roll and the prototype did a back flip, not recommended maneuvers. Needless to say, use a softly sprung trailer. Do not modify it any further than a roller or two across the back of the trailer and possible re-positioning the license plate, and it will do just fine and the UNLOADED craft will climb up fine without tilting the trailer. (It might put up a minor fight getting it off as thrust will impede it unless it is left unpowered as the rear is hefted to the ground.) See you at UTUBE , use channel name "sevtecsev".
