Explorer drive

What are you fellow 20’ explorer builders using for the drive? I know Bryan has improved the drive over Barry’s original drawings. I’ll likely use the original with an EA-81 since that is the only drawing available.

Whichever engine you choose I can calculated pulleys to suit. I need hp and rpm. The motor should not be run faster than about 4500 to maintain lift and thrust balance. One builder is using the L15A honda which is about 75hp. Weight is another consideration. Some used the EJ series as EA got hard to find, but they are heavier. The original Explorer 20 had 55hp.
