Helm & windscreen

Post by highlandhovercraft » May 2nd, 2012, 8:41 am

I should start making the helm for my explorer next week. Roughly how far back from the front does the helm go? On the plan sheets I can see the height and the plans show that it is in front of the floor on H8.

The windsreen is the other thing I cant see much info on other than the height. I can see the top of the screen frame finishes about level with the helm.
What sort of angle should the screen slope back at?
Approximately how far back from the front edge of the bow does the screen frame sit?

I realise a fair bit of the cosmetics is down to builders descretion, but I want to get as close as possible look wise to Bryan's explorer.

The new 22 has a 30° tilt, old was 60° which looked cool. The problem with 60° is if you plan to look though it. I put my helm so my toes are right at the plow plane while standing.

What is the frame made of on the new TDI explorer? I will soon have to make the screen for my build.

Foam and fiberglass. Glass is bonded in.
